What is hydrogeoecology? Hydrogeoecology is an interdisciplinary affiliation of scientists from the Departments of Biology, Earth and Planetary Sciences, and Civil Engineering at the University of New Mexico. The theme of hydrogeoecology emphasizes the interface between aquatic and riparian ecology, hydrology, geochemistry, and geomorphology. Graduate education in this interdisciplinary program draws upon class work and field studies where hydrology, geochemistry, and ecology interact. Major ongoing studies focus on the ground water/surface water interface and the Rio Grande bosque. Many of these research projects are linked to Sevilleta LTER Project.
