Notice Please request an in-person site visit with James Cleverly or with Venessa Beauchamp before visiting this site. Revegetation studies of a delicate nature are in progress DAMAGE OF OR INTEREFERENCE WITH ONGOING STUDIES WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Site Description The Bosque del Apache NWR Restoration site (BDAR) is currently under construction and originally funded by NM EPSCoR contingency funds to replace the bare soil site that was destroyed on the Rio Salado. The site was located on the Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge near the MRGCD weather station. This bare soil site is the result of restoration studies at Bosque del Apache and is expected to remain unvegetated longer than other restoration sites due to its high salinity. The site’s actual location is 33°46'22.91"N, 106°52'52.00 W. This site is currently operating. Vegetation There was previous sparse saltcedar (Tamarix chinensis) and saltgrass (Distichlis spicata) vegetation at this site, removed by the Bosque del Apache NWR before the 3SEC system was installed, leaving a bare-soil site. Nearby revegetation plots surround the tripod. Hydrologic Status Winter water table depth as shallow as 80 cm. Summer water table depth as deep as 300 cm. Site is outside the Low Flow Conveyance Channel and does not flood. Instrumentation
